Pourvoirie la Pointe aux Dorés

La Pointe aux Dorés sits on a peninsula fringed by a sandy beach, in the south bay of the Gouin Reservoir — the former Lac Bureau. This 1,789 km² body of water, more than 100 km by 60 km, is the jewel of the Haute-Mauricie and one of Quebec's most celebrated spots for walleye and northern pike fishing. The outfitter puts a fleet of 32 sixteen-foot boats with 15 to 20 HP motors at your disposal, and suggests more than 25 fishing spots close to the main site; the more adventurous roam the south, north and east bays. Lodging is in fully equipped rustic chalets sleeping 2 to 12 people: wood heating, electricity around the clock, hot and cold running water, a full kitchen, a bathroom and a view over the lake and the sunsets. The chalets are linked by walking trails where you will come across ruffed grouse, loons, herons, hares and eagles, amid northern Quebec flora: Labrador tea, blueberries, lady's slipper orchids. The arrival is part of the trip: you cross the bay by barge from the parking area before the team walks you to your chalet, where your boat is already waiting. Self-catering fishing stays on the European plan, from mid-May through September. The outfitter has belonged to Nicolas Bédard since 2022, and its chalets are being renovated one by one.
