About
La Pointe aux Dorés is a fishing outfitter on the Gouin reservoir, in the Baie du Sud — also known as 'lac Bureau,' the name this bay carried before the dam that created the reservoir was built. A jewel of the Haute-Mauricie spanning 1,789 km², this vast body of water more than 100 km by 60 km is renowned for the exceptional quality of its walleye and northern pike fishing. More than 25 fishing spots are suggested near the main site, and the more adventurous can roam the south, north and east bays of the reservoir. The fleet counts 32 sixteen-foot boats with 15 to 20 HP motors. Lodging is in fully equipped rustic chalets that sleep 2 to 12 people: wood heat, electricity, hot and cold running water, gas stove, a large fridge with freezer, a full kitchen and indoor toilet, all with a magnificent view of the lake and the sunsets. The 100% solar-powered site is surrounded by beaches counted among the finest in northern Quebec and is home to an eagle sanctuary. Access is by barge crossing from the parking lot, or by floatplane. Under the direction of Nicolas Bédard, owner since 2022.

Located in the western sector of the Gouin reservoir, about 280 km from the La Tuque urban area or the town of Mont-Laurier. Road access to a parking lot, then a barge crossing (boat) across the bay to the main site — a team member picks guests up at the parking lot. Check-in between 12:00 and 17:00; arrival time must be communicated in advance (a $100 fee may apply after 17:00). Floatplane access is also available (waterbody coordinates: lat. 48°24'24, long. 75°05'53; partners on request, additional fees).
