Kipawa Lodge is a private-island outfitter on Lake Kipawa, in the Témiscamingue, reachable only by boat from the village of Kipawa. Established in 1960 and run since 1988 by Barb and Wayne Moreau, it is first and foremost a fishing destination: Lake Kipawa is known for its walleye, northern pike, lake trout and smallmouth bass, with prime fishing spots minutes from the dock. The waterfront cabins are fully equipped and off-grid: 24-hour solar power, full kitchen (4-burner stove with oven, full-size electric fridge), hot shower, wood stove with unlimited firewood, outdoor BBQ and free WiFi. Three named cabins — Lakehouse (4 bedrooms, sleeps up to 8), Northern Lights (3 bedrooms, sleeps 2-6) and Shady Birches (3 bedrooms, sleeps 2-6). Beyond fishing, the island welcomes families and multi-generation trips with canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding (free use), wildlife watching, swimming and quiet hiking trails. More than 75% of guests return year after year.

Access : By boat

Private-island outfitter, reachable only by boat. The pick-up dock (boarding point) is at 560 Chemin de la Baie de Kipawa, in the village of Kipawa. Taxi-boat transport from the village is included in the Stay and Fish and Family Getaway packages; otherwise the round-trip transfer is $350. For anglers bringing their own boat, a boat launch and secure parking are available in the village of Kipawa. The taxi boats (including a 24-foot landing craft) do not run in high winds, thunderstorms or after dark.
