About

Pourvoirie Vent de la Savane sits on a vast 82 km² exclusive territory in the heart of Lanaudière, near Saint-Michel-des-Saints, dotted with about thirty lakes (roughly 32, around fifteen of them open) and more than 200 km of trails. It is a quota-managed hunting, fishing and getaway outfitter: only a limited number of guests are taken in to protect the quality of the experience and the health of the wildlife, supported by a team of biologists and a catch-and-release policy for pike. Multi-species fishing is offered on stocked and natural lakes — brook trout (stocked and native), northern pike and yellow perch — on a European plan, with no gas motors allowed. The hunting territory is divided into 11 cabin-linked sectors: moose, deer, black bear and small game (ruffed grouse, spruce grouse, hare, waterfowl). Lodging is in about ten lakeside cabins (4 to 12 people), from rustic to more modern, off-grid but fully equipped; self-contained camping (boondocking) near Lac Drapeau is also offered. Four-season getaway packages (including corporate formulas), snowmobile-access winter packages, and all-inclusive guided packages for European clients (with airport pickup and meals) round out the offering.

Access : By road

Exclusive territory near Saint-Michel-des-Saints (Lanaudière). In summer, road access by SUV or truck is recommended — the roads can be difficult for a car. Do not follow Google Maps. From the centre of Saint-Michel-des-Saints village (near Hôtel Central): take Chemin des Aulnaies (120 m from the hotel) for 5 km; turn left and follow Chemin Kataway (Chemin du Lac-de-la-Dame) for 2.8 km; at the fork, take the forest road on the right and follow the 'VDLS' signs for 14 km; the reception is 6 km past the outfitter entrance. In winter, access is by snowmobile only (snowmobile transport from the village to the outfitter available on request). A $20-per-vehicle right-of-way fee (registration required) applies for ATV/truck/4x4 travel. A territory map is available for free download on Avenza.
