Pourvoirie Ternay

Set on Lac Ternay, deep in northern Quebec, Pourvoirie Ternay is a fly-in-only fishing camp about a hundred miles northwest of Fermont. It holds exclusive camping rights within a 200-kilometre radius: no fishing pressure, and for company only the birds and your own party. Lake trout, brook trout, landlocked salmon and pike are taken trolling, on the fly, wading, on the lake and in the many rapids of a direct tributary of the famed Caniapiscau River — big fish are the rule here, and releasing them the custom. From June to September the round-log main lodge, which fronts the lake on three sides, welcomes you on the American plan with guides and a cook, new Princecraft boats fitted with fish finders, silent solar power, hot water, washer and dryer, internet, and everything needed for a shore lunch on the sand beaches. Explorers can push on to an outpost camp 50 kilometres away by boat, where 12 to 15 different sets of rapids await, or fly out by helicopter on request to nearly untouched little rivers. Between outings: walks in the forest and on the beach, swimming in crystal-clear water, ATV riding, canoe and paddleboard, northern lights and Perseids.
