About

A specialist in sport fishing by houseboat for more than 20 years, Pourvoirie Rivière la Galette offers seven floating cabins (standard, deluxe and VIP) for exploring Réservoir Gouin in Upper Mauricie — 1,789 km² of water and more than 275 km of navigable waterways. Known for the quality and abundance of its walleye and northern pike, the territory has numerous bays (Magnan, Brochu, Portage) and spawning grounds reachable by boat from spring onward, as well as wide white-sand beaches. The team, who know the reservoir by heart and have their own bathymetric map, offer a guide service on request and can supply on site ice, gas, hunting and fishing licences, bait (worms and leeches), and floatplane transport. Each floating cabin is equipped with a full kitchen, a solar-powered fridge and lighting, a toilet with shower and hot water, and a radio-communication system with the outfitter's base; stays run a minimum of 4 nights. The VIP package includes floatplane transport to a stationary deluxe houseboat. Pets are welcome.

Access : By road

Road access only. Three routes are laid out by the outfitter (per the /information/ page): from Montréal, take Highway 15 North, which becomes Route 117 North, to Lac Saguay; 12 km past Lac Saguay, turn right toward Chute-Saint-Philippe (Route 311) and follow signs toward Mont-Saint-Michel then Parent; at the Parent intersection (convenience store), continue straight toward the Gouin dam to km 53, then turn left at the Pourvoirie Rivière La Galette sign (3.5 km). From Québec, drive to La Tuque via Route 155, then take the Wemontachi/Parent direction via Route 25 (CB radio channel 10); at the end of Route 25, turn right toward the Gouin dam via Route 13, then turn left at km 53 toward the outfitter (3.5 km). From Gatineau/Ottawa, drive to Mont-Laurier via Route 309 North, stay on Route 309 North at the roundabout to Mont-Saint-Michel, then toward Parent; at the Parent intersection, continue straight toward the Gouin dam to km 53, then turn left toward the outfitter (3.5 km). Site warning: do not rely on GPS on the gravel roads, as you may get lost — follow the outfitter's own directions. A CB radio (channel 10) is recommended; cell networks are limited past urban areas. Outfitter GPS coordinates: 48.274710, -74.461628. Arrival/departure times: noon to 1 pm / 9 am, every day. Note: the address '473B, boul. Saint-René Est, bureau 13, Gatineau (Québec) J8R 8A5' shown on /nous-joindre/ is explicitly labelled the 'Bureau administratif' (head office), not the outfitter site — not used as the site address.
