About

In the heart of the Monts-Valin, at 600 metres of altitude northeast of Chicoutimi, Pourvoirie Poulin de Courval spreads across 128 km² of exclusive territory in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. About fifty lakes hold a pure, indigenous population of brook trout (speckled trout), with no competing species and no stocking; Lac Poulin de Courval, covering 28 km², is the largest indigenous brook-trout lake in the world. The outfitter practises selective management, opening roughly half its lakes to fishing each year on a rotation to keep catches of fine size. Fishing runs from late May to early September, on a European, American, or modified American plan. For hunting, the territory offers fall moose hunting (only three groups at a time, high success rate) and spring bear hunting over baited sites. Lodging is in eleven upscale private cabins, usable year-round, each sleeping 2 to 12 people (about fifty guests in total), with 24-hour electricity and drinkable tap water. The territory is also home to one of Quebec's largest heron colonies, along with bear, moose, fox, hare and partridge.

All children 17 and under stay free, except on the American plan where the child's food is charged ($140/child/stay). The /portfolio_page/famille/ page shows 'Contact us' rather than a separate rate: this package re-uses the fishing-plan grid (see ppdc-peche-plan-americain / ppdc-peche-plan-europeen), so priceFrom is left null.
