Pourvoirie Club Lac des Sables et Paradis holds a 100 km² exclusive-rights territory at Bergeronnes, on the Côte-Nord, just 4 km into the forest. With more than 100 years of history behind it, the estate has some fifty small lakes teeming with native brook trout and two large bodies of water — Lac des Sables and Lac Paradis — where brook trout share the water with Arctic char, the outfitter's pride: this Quebec red trout (marstoni), a freshwater Arctic char locked in by the glaciers thousands of years ago, is a hard-fighting trophy fish with a 10-pound record to beat. You can fish on the American plan (with one of the best tables in the backcountry, 3 gourmet meals a day), on the self-sufficient European plan, or in an ATV formula to reach the more remote lakes. The outfitter also offers moose hunting in zone 18 East (cutover terrain, baited sites, a 65-85% success rate) and bear hunting in the Lac Caribou sector. Lodging is in 18 solar-powered cabins, with 3 RV sites as well, plus beaches, a children's playground, and a convenience shop selling fishing tackle, worms and gas.
