Pourvoirie la Rocheuse

Tucked into the mountains of the Haute-Côte-Nord north of Forestville, Pourvoirie La Rocheuse holds a 94.5 km² exclusive-rights territory of lakes, waterfalls and breathtaking scenery. Its lakes brim with wild brook trout of 15 to 35 cm — the big lakes reachable by car, the smaller ones by ATV — with a season running from ice-out in late May to the second week of September. The territory also offers spring black-bear hunting from June 1 to 20 over baited sites with an experienced guide; moose hunting from mid-September to mid-October on exclusive grounds rented by the week, with a limit of one moose per four hunters; and small-game hunting — partridge and hare — from mid-October to early November. Summer brings swimming off a fine sand beach, kayaking, pedal boats and paddleboarding, hiking and ATV riding, wild-berry and mushroom picking, and wildlife watching. In winter, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice fishing (December to mid-April) and hare snaring packages are available on request. You stay in 3- and 4-star chalets spread across three sites — Lac Bourbeau, Lac Savard and Lac Pipe — each with running water, a bathroom with shower, a propane stove and fridges, wood heat, solar lighting and a BBQ. A caretaker is on site year-round at Lac Bourbeau, 35 boats are spread across the main lakes, and guides are available on request. Access is by forest road or floatplane.
