Pourvoirie Forêt Montmorency-Université Laval

About
Forêt Montmorency, managed by Université Laval's Faculty of Forestry, Geography and Geomatics, is the largest university teaching and research forest in the world: a 412 km² boreal territory in the heart of the Réserve faunique des Laurentides, and the snowiest place in Quebec (about 6 metres of snow a year). Since 2026, brook trout fishing is once again offered as a package with lodging: a 2-night stay at the Le Hameau chalet giving access to lake fishing (Piché, Bédard and Joncas lakes) and to the river, or a refuge stay (Jean-Marie or Tanguay) giving access to fishing on the Montmorency River, where eight pools have been developed. Daily wade fishing on the river is also available by the day. Fly fishing is favored, with catch-and-release allowed for fly fishing only; only electric motors are permitted on the boats. The public can also enjoy self-guided activities — hiking, snowshoeing and bird watching on the developed trails, plus the Joncas interpretive peat bog. Stays run Friday to Sunday, from late June through the end of August, and places are limited.
