About

Forêt Montmorency, managed by Université Laval's Faculty of Forestry, Geography and Geomatics, is a teaching and research forest in the heart of the boreal forest, bordered by the Laurentides wildlife reserve, the Seigneurie de Beaupré and Jacques-Cartier national park. Since 2026, brook trout fishing is once again offered as a package with lodging: a 2-night stay at the Le Hameau chalet giving access to lake fishing (Piché, Bédard and Joncas lakes) and to the river, or a refuge stay (Jean-Marie or Tanguay) giving access to fishing on the Montmorency River, where eight pools have been developed. Daily wade fishing on the river is also available by the day. Fly fishing is favored, with catch-and-release allowed for fly fishing only; only electric motors are permitted on the boats. Stays run Friday to Sunday, from late June through the end of August, and places are limited.
