Domaine Genessee

About
In the Iroquois language, 'Genessee' means a beautiful valley — and that is exactly what Domaine Genessee offers: about ten square kilometres of nature, deep in the forest, where you come to unwind beside the Montmorency River. You stay in one of three log cabins: Le Trophée, a large luxurious riverfront cabin (up to 14 guests, decorated with hunting trophies), Le Héron, a charming A-frame cabin beside a little lake (up to 7 guests, wood stove and heated floor), and Le Trapeur, more rustic and welcoming. The property has two small fish-bearing lakes near the cabins and offers more sporty fly-fishing on the Montmorency River; the fishing right is added to the stay ($250 for 2 days, $500 for 7 days) and includes a boat on each lake. There are also several kilometres of easy hiking trails, a large wildlife-observation enclosure, shared access to canoes, a kayak and paddle boards from May to October, and a guided visit of the Caverne Thomassin cave with a professional speleologist ($40/person). Lodging by reservation only.
