About

Pourvoirie de la Truite Rouge is an outdoor territory on Quebec's Côte-Nord, reached by forestry road from Les Escoumins via the chemin de la Zec Nordique. Its lakes and rivers brim with native brook trout, and you get to the water by car or ATV, with a fleet of 25 aluminum and wooden boats plus gas and electric motors. On the hunting side, an exclusive moose territory (with trophy specimens) and small-game trails; black bear is also among the species. Lodging is in 8 cabins sleeping 2 to 10 people, including 3 new cabins on a new site; each cabin has beds, dishes, a fridge, wood and propane stoves, a toilet, shower and running water (solar lighting for cabins 1 to 3, a generator for the others). On site: motor rental, a fish-cleaning area, freezer and ice, and a satellite phone for emergencies. Nearby, hiking, kayaking and pedal-boating, a beach, swimming and wild-berry picking round out the stay.
