Pourvoirie de la Truite Rouge

Tucked into the forested backcountry behind Les Escoumins, on Quebec's Côte-Nord, Pourvoirie de la Truite Rouge is a warm, unwinding territory where 12 lakes and 2 rivers brim with native brook trout. Twenty-five aluminum and wooden boats, with gas or electric motors available for rent, await anglers, and every lake is reachable by car or ATV. On the hunting side, an exclusive moose territory and dedicated small-game trails promise trophy specimens; black bear is also among the species. Eight cabins sleeping 2 to 10 people — 3 of them brand-new on a new site — come with beds, dishes, a refrigerator, wood and propane stoves, toilet, shower and running water, plus a freezer, ice and a fish-cleaning area. Between outings: hiking, kayaking and pedal boats, a beach and swimming, and wild-berry picking.
