About

Domaine du lac Kergus is a 43.7 km² exclusive-rights outfitter tucked into unspoiled wilderness on the Côte-Nord, reached by forest road from Sacré-Cœur or Les Escoumins. Fishing is its claim to fame: 20 lakes and one river full of native brook trout, a privileged quota of 20 trout per day and 6 lakes open year-round, with boats at every lake. The territory, split into 3 zones of about 12 km² each with 14 closed blinds, offers moose hunting (one exclusive territory per party), small-game hunting and bear hunting over baited sites. Lodging is in cabins — 9 warm cabins named after animals, with a capacity of 2 to 14, featuring hot water, a shower, a stove, a propane fridge and wood-stove heat — or in the inn, with 8 double-occupancy rooms with private bathrooms, a mezzanine, a lounge and a lake-view terrace. Choose the American plan (3 meals a day, trout gutting and freezing, motor) or the fully self-catered European plan, with a discounted family package in July and August. Hiking trails, wild-berry picking, ATV trails, swimming, canoeing and kayaking round out the stay.
