About
Founded in 1998, Pourvoirie Ayapewa is a slice of wild paradise in the Mauricie, at Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, near the Mastigouche reserve and Lac Sacacomie. A trout-fishing specialist, it works two lakes lined with its cabins: Lac Piston, stocked with brook trout, and Lac Foin, stocked only with rainbow trout. Three fully renovated rustic cabins can sleep up to 32 people, each fitted with beds, a stove, fridge, solar-powered lighting, dishes, hot water, indoor toilets, showers, a BBQ and an outdoor fire pit. Beyond fishing, the property offers small-game hunting (Sept 19 to Oct 12), hiking along 35 km of trails leading to former fire-watch tower sites, photo safari, birdwatching, mushroom foraging and berry picking. Affordable packages with discounts for children make it an ideal getaway for family or friends.

Access : By road
Road access requires a pickup truck, AWD SUV, 4x4 or ATV: the last few kilometres are rough, in places rocky, steep and slippery, with a steep climb of about 350 metres. Trailers not recommended; the outfitter offers no towing and accepts no responsibility if an unsuitable vehicle is used. A parking area at the very start of the access road (trailhead for the La nature d'Alexis trails) lets you leave an unsuitable vehicle. Located near the Mastigouche reserve and lac Sacacomie; cabins sit on lac Piston, lac Foin is 1 km away.
