About

Pourvoirie Mabec is a trophy brook-trout fishing paradise tucked into the boreal forest of the Côte-Nord, along the Manitou River and reachable only by helicopter. Its 105 km² territory forms a network of large lakes — Manitou, Canot, Brézel and des Eudistes — home to giant brook trout and Quebec red trout (arctic char) averaging over 1 kg (2 lb+); few anglers leave without joining the '5 lb and over' club. Mabec offers two kinds of fishing stays of 3, 4 or 7 days. The American VIP plan, on Lac Manitou, is a luxury all-inclusive package: a private room with full bathroom, an on-site chef, professional guides (1 per 2 anglers), a social pavilion with fireplace, bar, satellite TV and WiFi, and all fishing equipment supplied. The European plan, on Lac des Eudistes and Lac Brézel (minimum groups of 4), pairs the comfort of a fully equipped cabin with self-guided adventure. The fishing season runs from late May to mid-September.

Access : Fly-in

Reachable only by air. The outfitter books a helicopter from Sept-Îles; a visual-flight of about 30 minutes operated by Mustang Hélicoptères Inc. (Héli-Inter). The departure base is at 1970 Decoste, Sept-Îles (industrial park). By car: take Route 138 to Sept-Îles, then at the first traffic light turn left into the industrial park and follow signs to the Mustang Hélicoptères base. Per-person baggage weight limit varies by package (American VIP plan: 23 kg / 50 lb; European plan: 45 kg / 100 lb); excess charged at $3.30/kg. Weather can cause delays (visual flight).
