Les Aventures Ungava - Helen Falls Lodge

Helen Falls Lodge (Les Aventures Ungava) is an Atlantic salmon fly-fishing lodge set on the banks of the George River, in the arctic tundra of Nunavik, some fifty kilometres upstream of Ungava Bay. The camp works an exclusive fishing section about 4 km long at the foot of the immense rapids that slow the salmon's upstream migration: the fish gather here by the tens of thousands and hold longer than anywhere else on the river. There are 27 pools on the main bank and 7 more on the east bank, most of them fishable straight from shore with no wading. The salmon are so fresh from the sea that many still carry sea lice. Beyond Atlantic salmon, the river holds Arctic char, lake trout and brook trout. A helicopter is kept on site and its use is part of your stay: weather permitting, it opens up remote char lakes and rivers and takes you over fjords, glaciers, waterfalls and national parks at the foot of the Torngat Mountains, where polar bears and musk ox roam. Lodging is in private cabins that blend rustic charm with modern comfort — wood stove, comfortable beds, heated interiors, full-time electricity, plenty of hot water, Starlink high-speed internet — alongside a French-technique gourmet table built on the harvest of the boreal forest and the sea, and a spa with a wood-fired hot tub looking out over the river.
