About

Rapid Lake Lodge is a high-end lodge nestled in the subarctic tundra of Arctic Quebec (Nunavik), about 150 km southeast of Kuujjuaq. Built more than 25 years ago from hundred-year-old tundra trees, it accommodates up to 16 guests in private rooms, with gourmet meals prepared by a chef, high-speed internet and Wi-Fi. For more than 27 years the lodge has developed a renowned fly-fishing program for Arctic char, brook trout and lake trout across a network of 80+ km of rivers in the Ungava Bay area, with daily fly-outs by float plane to the best stretches of river. Beyond fishing, it offers wildlife-observation safaris (polar bears, muskoxen, wolves), guided or self-guided treks and expeditions in the Arctic Cordillera, and bush-flying packages to discover Torngat Mountains National Park and its fjords, mountains, glaciers and waterfalls. A true oasis of the Canadian Far North.

Wildlife-observation safari in the Arctic tundra (polar bears, muskoxen, wolves and others) from the Barnoin eco-lodge or by bivouac, with access to Torngat Mountains National Park (fjords, mountains, glaciers, waterfalls). Note: caribou appears in the site's marketing copy, but Quebec's sport caribou hunt is suspended — the species is deliberately not captured here. This is wildlife observation, not hunting.
