Founded in 1997, la Pourvoirie du Montagnard is well known for the quality of its houseboats and chalets, rated 4 stars. Set on Réservoir Gouin in the magnificent sandy bay of Chapman Lake, it is one of the prime destinations for fishing or simply for quality family time. The outfitter rents six well-equipped houseboats measuring 52 feet by 24 feet, with large front and rear patios, wheelchair-adapted and sleeping up to eleven people: double beds and stacked single bunks, a full bathroom with hot-water shower, a refrigerator, a BBQ and fish-cleaning table, GPS and marine charts, a radio-telephone, and one boat with motor per two adults. For those who prefer dry land, two chalets each sleep up to six: the chalet next to the lodge and a private 4-star-rated chalet on the far side of the lake. Each unit has an equipped kitchen, and the outfitter's dock can hold up to four houseboats at a time.

Location & access

La Tuque (48.3403, -74.6719)

Access : By road

Road access (the outfitter strongly advises against Google Maps / GPS to coordinates 48°20'22" N, 74°40'21" W, which can add several km). Main route: take Route 117 North to the village of Lac Saguay, then 12 km past Lac Saguay turn right (toward Chute St-Phillips) and follow signs for Mont-St-Michel, then on toward Parent. From Parent: at the convenience store/gas station turn left at the stop and follow the road toward Clova; at km 30 turn right, at km 38 turn right onto the road for Pourvoirie du Montagnard and Oasis du Gouin; reset the odometer to 0, and at km 25.5 the road splits — turn left for the outfitter. From Québec City you can also go via La Tuque then Route 25 (new road) to Parent. The outfitter's dock can hold up to four houseboats at a time.
