About

Aventures Kiamika is an outfitter and ecolodge set on private headlands above Kiamika Reservoir, deep in the Hautes-Laurentides: 52 km² of clear water, more than 40 wild islands and fine sand beaches. You sleep in a waterfront cabin (eight units, sleeping 1 to 11, off-grid with no electricity or cell service), in an eco-friendly mini-lodge — the Dens, fully self-sufficient and solar-powered — in a ready-to-camp tent built on half-walls, or on a wilderness campsite or RV site, car-free and steps from the water. A canoe comes with the cabins and ready-to-camp tents; single and tandem kayaks, paddleboards, a rabaska and motorboats rent by the hour, half day or full day. Fishing here is done sustainably, with catch and release encouraged: lake trout, northern pike, landlocked salmon and walleye. From Sainte-Véronique, floatplane packages let you arrive by air too — a half-day picnic outing or an all-inclusive one- or two-night stay — and a guided survival expedition flies even further north. Taken over in 2016 and reimagined as an ecolodge, the site is an accredited member of Aventure Écotourisme Québec. Lodging is off-grid (solar and propane), with no cell service or Wi-Fi included, and dogs are welcome.

Access : By road · Fly-in

Road access, plus floatplane access for the fly-in packages. By road (from the 'How to get there' page): take Autoroute 15 North to the junction with Route 117 North (Sainte-Agathe), then Route 117 North toward Labelle and Rivière-Rouge. Rivière-Rouge is the last gas station and the last grocery store; 16 km further on, the village of Sainte-Véronique is on your right. Drive through Sainte-Véronique (SAQ liquor store and local grocery) and take the SECOND entrance to chemin Tour du lac Tibériade on your right — the first entrance, marked with a camping sign, is not the one. Then turn left onto chemin Lac Mc Caskill (first black-bear sign). Once on the dirt road, follow the main road for 18.2 km (kilometres are marked), then turn left at the fork marked with the second black-bear 'Aventures Kiamika' sign and continue about 7.8 km on that well-maintained forest road. Parking is at the site entrance; cars stay there and the site itself is car-free. The final kilometres are on unpaved road. The outfitter warns not to rely on GPS or Waze, which point to a wrong address in the forest. A site access fee of $8 per day applies to visitors who have not booked lodging (it covers parking and site access). By air: floatplane packages depart from Sainte-Véronique with Air Mont-Laurier, and the return is by private shuttle to the Sainte-Véronique parking area. Launching your own boat from the beach requires a 4x4 vehicle.
