About

Arctic Adventures is an Inuit-owned fishing outfitter that has operated two camps in Nunavik, the arctic region of Quebec, for more than 50 years. All trips are staged out of Kuujjuaq on Ungava Bay, and the camps are reachable only by Twin-Otter floatplane. Tunulik II Camp, perched on a granite bluff above the Lagrevé River 2.4 km from Ungava Bay, offers fly fishing rated among the best in the world for Brook trout (sea-run and resident, up to 3.2 kg / 7 lb) and Arctic char late in the season; six anglers there have about 16 km (10 miles) of river for their exclusive use, with one guide and a freighter canoe per three anglers. Payne River Camp, on the 60th parallel about 40 km upriver from the village of Kangirsuk, offers the same exceptional char and trout fishing (temporarily closed for renovations). Packages are 6-day / 5-night all-inclusive (air transport, heated-cabin lodging, home-cooked meals, guides, permits), with a strict catch-and-release policy. The Inuit staff and guides share their culture and their knowledge of the land and its wildlife.

All trips depart from Kuujjuaq on Ungava Bay: daily commercial Montreal–Kuujjuaq flight (Canadian North), then a chartered Twin-Otter flight from Kuujjuaq to camp, landing on a natural airstrip behind the camp. Tunulik II: 58° 28′ N, 66° 34′ W, on the Lagrevé River 2.4 km from Ungava Bay. Payne River: 60th parallel, about 240 km northwest of Kuujjuaq and 40 km upriver from the village of Kangirsuk, with a 335 m airstrip behind the camp.
