About

Aventures Arctiques is an Inuit-owned outfitter that has welcomed anglers to Nunavik, in Arctic Quebec, since 1969 (more than 45 years). It runs two fly-fishing camps beyond the treeline: Camp Tunulik II, perched on a granite cliff above the Lagrevé River, 2.4 km from Ungava Bay (reserved for just 6 or 7 anglers, with roughly 16 km of river held exclusively and a catch-and-release policy), and the Payne River Camp, on the 60th parallel about 40 km upstream of Kangirsuk. The fishing is for Arctic char, native brook trout and anadromous (sea-run) brook trout, among the finest Arctic-char fishing in North America. The season runs from mid-August to mid-September, at the peak of the migration. Trips depart from Montreal: a commercial flight to Kuujjuaq, then a chartered Twin Otter to camp. Guests stay in heated cabins, with meals prepared by the camp cook and professional Inuit guides.
