Aventure Évasion Estrie

Aventures Évasion Estrie is the largest outfitter in the Eastern Townships and the only hunting, fishing, wildlife-watching and vacation outfitter in Zone 04. Established in 1999 in the Mégantic region, it works 40 private hunting territories totalling more than 12,000 acres — and also offers territories in Zone 06 South. Every party is assigned an exclusive territory of 50 to 600 acres, set up for the game you are after: enclosed plank-built blinds, tree stands, removable ground blind tents, baited sites (salt licks, minerals, apples, carrots, wallows) and marked trails, plus an advance scouting visit of the territory and an experienced guide service. White-tailed deer is the flagship product, in a sector with an average density of 5 deer per km²; the territory is also hunted for moose (10 territories in the Val-Racine, Notre-Dame-des-Bois and La Patrie sectors), black bear over baited sites (58% success over three years for a 3-day stay), wild turkey on about ten territories that include meadows, and small game — snowshoe hare and ruffed grouse — over hundreds of acres of trails. On the fishing side, a small wild lake at the foot of the mountains, 500 m from the Équinoxe, Azimut, Boréal and Zénith cabins, yields brook trout from early May to late July, while the lakeside Oasis cabins open onto a lake holding walleye, bass and yellow perch. Lodging is in fully equipped cabins — full kitchen, patio and BBQ, wood stove, game shelter — 7 km from the entrance to Mont-Mégantic National Park, on the European or American plan, with inn, B&B and campground options as well. In the heart of the Mont-Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve, the outfitter also runs four-season getaway packages: astronomy evenings, torchlit snowshoe outings, wildlife watching and guided history tours.
