Au Diable Vert

Au Diable Vert is a four-season outdoor base perched more than 1,000 feet up, on one of the only open plateaus on the south face of the Sutton range, between the Round Top and Jay Peak summits, at Glen Sutton in the Eastern Townships. From there the view opens onto the Missisquoi River valley and the Green Mountains of Vermont. Guests sleep in seven kinds of lodging: three fully equipped mountain apartments (2 bedrooms, up to 4 people, wood stove), shelters perched in the trees, Pod shelters for two and family Pods sleeping up to six, clifftop shelters with a covered balcony, large rustic shelters for 2 to 8 people, and secluded campsites on wood or sand platforms with a fire ring, BBQ grill and picnic table. On the activity side: VéloVolant, a bike suspended from a cable that glides through the treetops on a 1,000-metre circuit — the only one of its kind in Canada; ObservÉtoiles, an open-air augmented-reality planetarium presented by astronomers in a 184-seat natural mountainside amphitheatre; a self-guided 11 km kayak descent of the Missisquoi River (with shuttle), stand-up paddleboarding and river tubing; and more than 14 km of private trails for hiking, snowshoeing, Hok skiing and sliding, with an animal-tracks interpretive route and a visit to the farm's Highland cattle herd. Dogs are welcome at no charge, on the trails and in the lodgings alike. The site is reached on foot only and is open 365 days a year.
