On the shores of Lac St-Charles and Lac Petit St-Charles, at Sainte-Émélie-de-l'Énergie in the Lanaudière region, Auberge la Barrière opens up a 20 km² domain with 8 fishable lakes, three of them stocked with big trout. Five trout varieties swim here: rainbow, brook, brown, Arctic char and the Golden, exclusive to the outfitter. Lodging runs from log chalets with a wood stove to fully equipped semi-detached units: 11 furnished, heated chalets, two rustic propane-powered cabins deep in the woods and 12 semi-detached units, for groups of 2 to 22 people, several with the pleasure of a fireplace. There is also a houseboat moored at the dock, solar- and propane-powered, sleeping 2 to 4 people with a rowboat at your disposal. The main inn houses a restaurant — lunch menu, evening table d'hôte, weekend breakfasts — and a licensed bar. In summer, paddleboards, kayaks, pedal boats, on-site waterfalls and a natural whirlpool round out the stay; in winter, ice fishing with equipment provided or from a heated cabin, snowmobile rentals and snowshoe trails, including a lit evening track. A pheasant hunt is also announced.
