About

Air Mont-Laurier runs three outfitting operations on exclusive-rights territory, all of them reachable only by floatplane from the company's own water aerodrome, built on the shore of Lac Tibériade in the Laurentians. At Lac du Mâle, an integral part of the Gouin Reservoir, you fish walleye and northern pike from early May to mid-September: the cabins sit tucked into a quiet little bay off the big lake, with five very comfortable cabins at the main site, two more set back on the west shore, and a kitchen with dining room for groups of 8 or more. Pourvoirie Jesmer, south of Clova, has 16 fully equipped cabins: every lake is exclusive because there is only one cabin on it, the native brook trout has never been stocked, and part of the territory holds two lakes that shelter northern pike, where a 4-kilo average is routine. Pourvoirie Tibériade, south of Parent, lines up nine individual cabins across territories laid out for hunting; split by the Némikachi River, the country is rugged and gives moose an exceptional refuge. All told, 24 exclusive moose-hunting territories in zone 14, with one moose per territory, tree stands, boats, motor and gas, and an aerial patrol every two days. Every stay is European plan, in private propane-equipped cabins with running water, toilet and shower. Present on these territories since 1976, the company also runs its own floatplane fleet — one Turbo-Otter, two Beavers and two Cessnas — for charters and custom packages.

Access : By road · Fly-in

The camps are fly-in only. Every cabin at Pourvoirie Lac du Mâle (Gouin Reservoir), Pourvoirie Jesmer (south of Clova) and Pourvoirie Tibériade (south of Parent) is served by a round-trip floatplane flight from the company's own water aerodrome, built on the shore of Lac Tibériade in the Sainte-Véronique sector of Rivière-Rouge; that flight is included in every package. The head office, the coordination and reservations centre and the floatplane maintenance shop are all at the same location. To reach the aerodrome by road: take Route 15 North, which becomes the twinned Route 117 at Sainte-Agathe and runs on to Labelle, then take the Sainte-Véronique exit 20 km north of Rivière-Rouge (L'Annonciation) and continue along the boulevard for about 2 km to the village — the aerodrome is on your right. From the west: cross the Macdonald-Cartier bridge into Quebec, take Route 50 East to Buckingham, then exit 309 North toward Mont-Laurier; at Mont-Laurier turn right onto Route 117 South for about 50 km to the Sainte-Véronique exit, on your left. Baggage allowance is 100 lb (45 kg) per person; excess is billed at $2.00/lb for fishing and $2.50/lb for hunting. Moose transport: $800 for the party; early return flight for the party: $995. Sold at the aerodrome: hunting and fishing licences, worms and topographic maps of the territories (Jesmer 31-O/11, Tibériade 31-O/9); satellite phone rental is available. A Gouin Reservoir community wildlife area access right is required to fish at Lac du Mâle, and Canadian residents operating a motorized boat must hold a pleasure craft operator card (the mandatory boating safety kit is supplied).
