About

Pourvoirie Relais Gabriel, founded in 1987 by Léonidas Savard and run today by his daughter Claire, is a family-run stopover on the Côte-Nord at km 316 of Route 389, along the Manicouagan reservoir — one of the largest bodies of water in the world (2,000 km², average depth 73 m). The last resupply stop before Fermont, it draws anglers for lake trout (touladi), landlocked salmon (ouananiche), pike, lake whitefish and brook trout, both on the reservoir and on a chain of lakes linked on foot (zone 19 South, Part A). The territory (zone 19 South-West) also offers moose and small-game hunting (ptarmigan, ruffed grouse, hare), canoeing, wildlife watching and, in winter, snowmobiling. Lodging is on the European plan: 6 fully propane-equipped, wood-heated cabins for 2 to 6 people, renovated smoke-free rooms in the main building, worker accommodation and a campground. On site: a 24-hour gas station, a convenience store, and free boat launch and fish-freezing for guests.
