About
Located 40 km north of La Tuque in the Mauricie region, toward Lac Saint-Jean, Pourvoirie Le Rochu offers 70 square kilometres of wild paradise carved up by 25 lakes and laced with trout streams. Regarded as one of the region's best territories for moose hunting — with no long portages — it also offers small-game and bear hunting (by bow or rifle) plus abundant fishing for brook trout (23 lakes), northern pike and walleye (7 lakes). Lodging is in 16 cabins: 8 secluded log cabins on propane gas and solar power, and 8 cabins at the welcome area run on electricity (fitted with shower, hot water, indoor toilet and a heat pump). About 30 km of trails and a wealth of family activities — swimming, a floating water slide, pedal boats, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, a sandy beach, wild-fruit picking and forest-mushroom foraging — round out the stay. A convenience store, laundry, fishing tackle and electric-motor rental are on site. A family-run territory operated by the Scalzo sisters, Maria and Sonia.
