Pourvoirie le Chasseur

Pourvoirie Le Chasseur works an immense territory of mixed forest, lakes and rivers along the New Brunswick border and the Réserve faunique de Rimouski, in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. Moose hunting is its specialty, with a success rate consistently above 80% (125 groups and 109 moose harvested in 2025), spread across eight four-day periods from mid-September to late October, on the American plan (inn) or the European plan (cabin). In spring, black bear is also hunted from stands over baited sites (bow, crossbow or rifle), an expertise developed since 1998. For fishing, four headwater lakes hold native and stocked brook trout, while the Kedgwick north-branch river winds 15 km through the territory (10 pools) for Atlantic salmon and brook trout fishing (mandatory catch-and-release), capped at 4 anglers per day. Lodging comes in two formats: the 16-room inn on the American plan (3 meals included, WiFi, cell coverage) or six intimate cabins on the European plan, set along the lakes and the salmon river. An experienced team of guides, a free downed-moose recovery and quartering service ('The Meat Machine Team'), a cold room, a blood-tracking-dog handler and a shooting range are all available to guests.
