Pourvoirie la Pointe du Phénix

Pourvoirie la Pointe du Phénix, formerly the 'Mackenzie camp', sits on a secluded peninsula point of Grand Lac Kipawa, facing due south and more than 20 km from the nearest outfitter. It is accessible by water only, with the pontoon transfer (about 3.5 km, 15 min) included in the package. The fishing is for walleye, northern pike and smallmouth bass; lake trout, which the wildlife ministry has been reintroducing through stocking in recent years, is a species to watch. Lake Kipawa stretches nearly 100 km and has more than 1,600 km of rocky shoreline lined with tall pines; sheltered by hundreds of islands and bays, it makes for safe boating. Powered entirely by solar energy, the outfitter offers four intimate waterfront cabins (wood heat, full kitchen and bathroom) sleeping 2 to 8 people, plus a beach, a walking trail and outdoor games. Open from mid-May to mid-September, it was purchased and fully renovated by its owners in the summer of 2017.
