Pourvoirie du Lac St-Pierre

Pourvoirie du lac Saint-Pierre is a 100% Québec family business, handed down from father to daughter in 2013 to its current owner, Valéry — one of the rare outfitters in Quebec wholly owned by a woman. Set in Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola in the Lanaudière region, at the mouth of the Lac Saint-Pierre archipelago — a body of water of 103 navigable islands designated a UNESCO protected territory in 2000. The lake stretches more than 32 km, from Berthierville to Trois-Rivières, and is home to 79 fish species (about 70% of Quebec's freshwater species), notably walleye, sauger, pike, smallmouth and largemouth bass, sturgeon and muskie. It is also a stopover for migratory waterfowl (290 bird species) and shelters the largest heronry in North America. The outfitter runs a fleet of roughly forty boats (22 rowboats, 5 pontoons, 7 fully equipped fishing boats, 10 canoes/kayaks), a 55-slip marina, six cabins and two floating houseboats. Lodging ranges from drive-up cabins to an island cabin (boat access) to a houseboat anchored in the archipelago, alongside guided fishing outings with accredited guides and wildlife-observation tours.
