Pourvoirie du Lac Matchi-Manitou

Established in 1969 on the shores of Lac Matchi-Manitou (12 km x 6 km), in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region close to the northern edge of the La Vérendrye wildlife reserve, Pourvoirie du Lac Matchi-Manitou is known for the quality of its fishing and hunting and for its many fine-sand beaches. For fishing, the lake offers walleye, pike, lake trout and brook trout; Lac Savoie is reserved for exclusive brook-trout fishing. For hunting, the outfitter calls bear hunting its specialty (very good success rate), alongside moose hunting and small-game hunting (ruffed and spruce grouse, hare, ducks and waterfowl) across several hundred kilometres of trails. Lodging, available May to November, comes as lakefront luxury chalets, rustic camps, 4-season yurts and 16 campsites; kayak, pedal-boat and paddle-board are included. In winter (December to March) the outfitter offers snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing. An on-site convenience store sells firewood, ice, fishing tackle, worms and leeches.
