About

Pourvoirie de la Seigneurie du Lac Métis, the largest outfitter in eastern Quebec, spreads across a vast, peaceful territory in the heart of Bas-Saint-Laurent, heir to the Seigneurie du Lac Métis granted in 1693 and acquired by the Price brothers in 1876. Moose is the star species, with a density above 23 moose per 10 km² and hunting success around 90% with a firearm; hunting is by rental of roughly 15 km² sectors allocated through a lottery draw, for groups of 2 to 4 hunters, with a blood-tracking dog service included. The territory is also hunted for white-tailed deer, very abundant black bear, and small game (ruffed grouse, hare, spruce grouse, woodcock). For fishing, lake trout reign over grand Lac Métis — one of the most productive populations south of the St. Lawrence — alongside brook trout; the Mitis River offers a quota-limited salmon pool. Lodging is in fully equipped European-plan cabins (running and potable water, indoor toilet and shower, capacity 2 to 6 people), rounded out by wild camping and outdoor vacation stays (hiking, swimming, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking).
