Pourvoirie Camp Cooper

Pourvoirie Camp Cooper occupies a former Canadian International Paper logging camp, converted into an outfitter in the 1990s, deep in the Laurentian plateau in the remote region south of Chibougamau. Countless rivers feed its lakes, known for an abundance of northern pike (up to 35 lb) and giant walleye (yellow walleye and blue walleye, over 15 lb). In spring, its black-bear hunt is well regarded, with bears regularly over 350 lb. The area also offers small-game hunting — hare, partridge, spruce grouse and, occasionally, woodcock — along abandoned trails and quiet logging roads, ideal terrain for ATV/quad enthusiasts. Lodging consists of a central pavilion housing the kitchen, the restaurant dining room and 20 guest rooms, plus 6 fully equipped houses (8-foot cellar, central heating, kitchen, bathroom with shower, hot water, 24-hour solar electricity, fridge, stove, dishes); five hold 4 to 8 people and the largest up to 18, ideal for large groups. No minimum is required to book a cabin. The outfitter also serves as a relay stop for ATV riders (gas, convenience store, meals and overnight stay).
