Pavillon du lac Berthelot is a family-run outfitter operated by four generations (Gary and Diane Koch, 3rd generation; Jason Koch, 4th generation), in the heart of the Abitibi boreal forest, 110 km east of Senneterre. Fishing is on Berthelot and Maricourt lakes (75 km, fed by 4 main rivers) for walleye and northern pike, and sturgeon in spring; fly-in outpost camps (Barry North, Barry South, Otter Lake, Megiscane South, and the 5-star Megiscane North camp) offer premium fishing with a maximum of 2 cabins per lake. For hunting, the outfitter offers black bear (over baited sites, 6 to 10 hunters/week, bears of 250 to 400 lbs), small game (hare, ruffed grouse and spruce grouse), and moose in zone 13 East, at both the main camp and outpost camps. Lodging at the main camp is in 12 cabins of 4 to 6 people, European plan (no meals), with 24/7 electricity, a mini convenience store, bait, hot-water showers, WiFi, a bar and a pool table.

Location & access

Access : By road · Fly-in

Main camp is road-accessible, 110 km from the village of Senneterre (Abitibi). From Senneterre: turn onto 10e avenue, then rue du Parc, then follow route 806 and the Pavillon du lac Berthelot signs for 110 km (about 1.5 hours of gravel road). Outpost camps are reached by floatplane from Berthelot Lake (departures from Senneterre also available).
