Balbuzard Sauvage

Le Balbuzard Sauvage sits on an exclusive 300 km² territory in Abitibi, dotted with more than 200 lakes and set on Grand Lac Trevet. The log lodge — a large main building ringed by welcoming cabins — brings together a generous fireside lounge with leather sofas, deluxe rooms with two double beds, a fireplace and a private bathroom, and a wine cellar holding one of the finest wine lists in the region. The executive chef builds a menu around regional products, served as gourmet table d'hôte dinners of up to six courses. On the water, walleye over 10 lb are common and trophy pike are there to be met, protected by a catch-and-release policy for large breeders. In the field, bear in spring, moose and small game in fall, on the American plan with full lodging and a guide, and the option of reserving exclusive use of the territory for a hunting party. In winter, the lodge is a favourite stop for snowmobilers and for anyone after a getaway, with a snowmobile package that includes dinner, the night and breakfast.
