La Pourvoirie Étamamiou

Pourvoirie Étamamiou is owned by the thousand-year-old Innu community of Unamen Shipu (La Romaine), on Quebec's Lower North Shore. Holding the exclusive fishing rights to the Étamamiou River basin, 5 km upstream from its mouth on the Gulf of St. Lawrence, it offers one of Quebec's finest salmon rivers, with a success rate among the highest in eastern North America. Sea-trout fishing and a demonstration of the traditional pole-caught Atlantic lobster round out the experience, as do fishing packages done the Innu way. Your guides are members of the Unamen Shipu community, proud representatives of a culture present on this gulf coast for more than 9,000 years. Lodging is in fully equipped chalets, heated and lit by electricity or wood, each with a bathroom and single beds for three people. Gourmet meals prepared with Innu touches — cooking over the fire, bannock bread, meals in the open air — are part of the experience. The outfitter welcomes parties of a maximum of six anglers at a time, in a vast country of rivers and lakes.
