Domaine du Lac Parent

Domaine du Lac Parent is a family-run outfitter of chalets and camping set on the shores of Lac Parent, at Senneterre in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Lac Parent is a long, narrow 53 km lake lined with fine sand beaches, with many smaller lakes, rivers and streams nearby: northern pike and yellow walleye dominate here, yellow perch too, and the setting is just as good for kayak outings and water sports. The Domaine rents eleven rustic chalets sleeping 4 to 8 people, each with a fully equipped kitchen (dishes, utensils, stove, fridge, microwave), a full bathroom, heating, a picnic table and an outdoor fire pit for campfires — bring your own towels and sleeping bags. Two chalets, the Aigle and the Faucon, are open four seasons with a wood stove and firewood provided in winter, and gladly welcome snowmobilers and ice fishers. The campground takes tents, tent-trailers, RVs and motorhomes, with a 15-20 and 30 A electrical hookup at every site, a table and a fire pit, and dock slips to rent for your boat. On site: 21-foot pontoon and fibreglass boat rentals, fully equipped ice-fishing cabin rentals in winter, plus worms, bait, minnows, ice and bathymetric lake maps. Every June the Domaine hosts the Festival du pêcheur, its annual fishing tournament in pro and amateur categories. Nearby: several swimming beaches, one of them less than five minutes away by boat or car, a 9-hole golf club 8 kilometres away, and the bars and restaurants of Senneterre.
