About

Domaine D'Oskélanéo is an outfitter tucked deep in the forest at Clova (La Tuque), on the site of a historic ghost village whose name appears on a map as early as 1831 and which, in the 1920s-30s, served as a gateway to the Chibougamau mining region. Here, walleye is king: a natural spawning ground on site and 20 km of river make it an outstanding spot for walleye and pike fishing. For hunting, the domain offers moose (managed territories of closed, raised blinds and salt licks, accessible by boat only), black bear (baited blinds near the river and lakes, with an experienced guide as needed) and small game (hare, spruce grouse, ruffed grouse). Beyond fishing and hunting: riverside beaches, swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding, hiking, ATV trails, foraging (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, Labrador tea, mushrooms) and pétanque. Lodging is in seven comfortable, well-equipped cabins (2 to 3 bedrooms, covered or sheltered decks), with a running-water fish house for cleaning your catch and reliable 24/7 solar electricity. Access is by road (expect 280 km of dirt road) or directly by train via VIA RAIL — the Rivière Oskelaneo stop is 600 m from the outfitter, which picks you up there.
