Camps Touristiques la Pointe à David

Les Camps touristiques La Pointe à David is a family vacation resort set at the end of chemin Baskatong, on a sandy point of the Baskatong reservoir in Grand-Remous. Three generations of the Lafrance family welcome guests to an inn of eleven rooms and twelve suites — fully equipped kitchen in the suites, balcony, air conditioning and WiFi —, twenty-two cottages sleeping 2 to 6 including cottage #22, a 2,200 sq ft (204 m²) Victorian house with four bedrooms and two bathrooms, and nightly or seasonal campsites open from 15 May to Thanksgiving Monday. The Baskatong, created in 1927 by the building of the Mercier dam, is a true inland sea: 320 km² in area, 96 metres deep, with more than 160 islands and some 2,800 km of mostly sandy shoreline famous for its beaches. Anglers fish for walleye, pike, sturgeon and, for the past few years, landlocked salmon; the marina rents boats, motors, pontoons and pedal boats, sells gas, propane, bait and ice, and a fishing guide can be booked. In summer, guests enjoy sailing and windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing and pedal boats, boat excursions, beach movie nights, a children's playground and the Boutique Kiteshop, in business since 1980. In winter, La Pointe à David becomes a base for snowmobile and ATV groups — trail 322 links the inn to the province-wide network — with meal packages and the La Presqu'Île dining room and its four-course dinner. Also on site: the Resto-Pointe in the summer season, a convenience store doubling as a small hardware shop and an SAQ counter, electric-vehicle charging stations and a conference room seating 133 people.
