About

Since 1975, Pourvoiries du lac Mistassini has offered trophy fishing trips on Lake Mistassini, Quebec's largest freshwater lake, in the heart of the Cree territory of Eeyou Istchee/James Bay. Unlike many destinations where you must choose a single species, here you fish all four in one trip: brook trout, lake trout, walleye and northern pike — by fly, by trolling or by line, on the lake and in the rapids. Outfitter records: 42 lb lake trout, 34 lb northern pike, 13.12 lb walleye. The operation runs two camps guided by experienced Cree, on the American plan (all meals included, including the guide-prepared shore lunch): Pavillon Aigle Pêcheur, tucked on Guillaume-Couture Island near the 51st parallel (five four-person cabins, up to 20 guests), open June 5 to July 31, 2026; and Camp Louis-Jolliet, at the mouth of the Rupert River with a panoramic dining-room view, recently renovated cabins and a meeting pavilion for groups, open August 3 to September 2, 2026. 17 ft boats with 60 HP Yamaha motors, two anglers per boat. Our Cree guides share a culture deeply tied to hunting, fishing and the land.
